Leija will serve a one-year term, beginning May 11, 2021 and running through April 30, 2022. The 澳门新葡京博彩区 is one of the few community college systems in the state with a student trustee

“We appreciate the outstanding service to the 阿拉莫大学 of our previous student trustee, 大流士马丁, who was 关闭ly involved with representing the district and initiated his “Fireside Chats” to help give students a voice," said 澳门新葡京博彩区 Chancellor Dr. 迈克•弗洛. "We look forward to the valuable contributions Ms. Leija will make as the representative of students on our board," he added.

Leija is studying business management at SAC, with the goal of transferring to UTSA by Spring of 2023 to complete a bachelor’s degree. Her ultimate goal is to work in operations or program management at a nonprofit organization. 在圣安东尼奥出生和长大, she says she loves living here and that inspires her desire to give back to her community. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, volunteering at local food pantries and traveling as often as possible.

“I am pursuing my educational and personal goals on my own timeline,” said Leija. “This allows me to participate in professional research, volunteering and staying active in my community, 在SAC继续我的学业,她补充道。.

Leija’s vision for her role as student trustee is focused on inclusion, 环绕她的校园, in all levels of student government and in the community. 东北湖景学院 student Talia Christian was named as the alternate student trustee. She will attend board meetings if Leija is unable to do so.
